About me
Hello, I am a tour guide in the Manu National Park in Peru.When I was just a little boy, my parents set up our home in the middle of the jungle, beside a small river.My father named the river “Tigre Mayo,” which as you can imagine means “Tiger River.” There are no tigers in this jungle, only jaguars, so although my father was a little confused about the animals he saw, you can imagine that this place was very isolated from other people, and I grew up with a special connection to the natural world around me.My parents taught me about medicinal plants, native food, the importance of hunting only what we needed, and how we could survive and even thrive in the jungle.Over time, my father established a school, and the town started to grow, family by family.My family also grew - I have 5 younger sisters, all of whom were raised in the jungle.When I outgrew the local school, my father organized for me to study at a school in Shintyua that was for kids from Native Communities in the area.As I got older, my father’s main gift to me was sending me to Cusco, to study Jungle Tourism at the American Technical Institute.Life in the city was a big adjustment for me, but my inherit knowledge of the jungle was turned into academic knowledge as well, names of the plants and animals that I was accustomed to seeing in the [sensitive content]w, I work as a tour guide for Bonanza Tours, and love to share the jungle with people from all over the world.I am particularly passionate about ecotourism, and bringing people to see the reality of the jungle without causing any harm.For me, the jungle is my home, in fact, my family still lives there.For others, it’s a vast, mysterious place.If you travel with me, I will share with you the secrets and intricacies about this impressive place.
