Itinerary
-
Old quarter, Miraflores and Causeway Islands
08:00 am: Pick up from the hotel and visit Casco Viejo, the Old Quarter, built following the near-total destruction of the original Panamá city, Panamá Viejo 1671 when pirates attacked the latter. It was designated a World Heritage Site in 1997.
09:30 am: Watch the Miraflores Locks, the name of one of the three locks that form part of the Panama Canal, and the name of the small lake that separates these locks from the Pedro Miguel Locks upstream, in action on the Panama Canal.
11:00 am: Experience the Amador Causeway, four small islands by the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal. They are linked to the mainland via a causeway made from rock extracted during the Panama Canal excavations. In part, the causeway was meant to serve as a breakwater for the entrance and take a nature walk on Punta Culebra.
Noon: Return to the hotel.
