Itinerary
-
Day 1: Trek to Tirkhedhunga (1960m) – 3/4 hours
After breakfast, board the vehicle and drive to Nayapul from Pokhara for 1 and a ½ hours.
After arriving at Nayapul, meet your porter and other Sherpa Staff and commence trek. Initially, trek down to the river for about 10 minutes and cross the new suspension bridge, thus named as Nayapul (New bridge), then climb up to the main village located on the ridge.
Walk through on cobbled stones and then follow the trail along the Modi River for about 20 minutes to arrive at the settlement of Birethanti for lunch.
After lunch, the trail follows the main street of Birethanti going through the bamboo forests and pass a large waterfall and swimming hole.
Follow the Burundi Khola on the north bank until Tirkhedhunga.
Stay at Lodge/Tea House.
-
Day 2: Trek to Ghorepani (2855m) – 7 hours
From Tirkhedhunga, the trail crosses a stream on a suspension bridge and then ascends a steep stone staircase to the large Magar village Ulleri at 1960m.
Trek to Ghorepani from Ulleri is unique. The trail goes through the beautiful pasture grounds, cultivated terraces, rhododendron and Oak forest with the superb view of South Annapurna (7219m) and Himchuli (6641m).
The trail crosses two sparkling clear streams before making a short and final climb to Nangethanti for lunch. In the winter, the trail can be covered with snow.
From Nangethanti, about one hour’s gradual climb will finally lead to Ghorepani.
Stay at Lodge/Tea House.
-
Day 3: Trek to Tadapani (2630m) – 5 hours
Pre-dawn alert and trek up to the Poon Hill (3200m) to view a magnificent sunrise over the Annapurna Range. The views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range are truly magnificent from Poon Hill.
Shortly afterwards, return back to Ghorepani for breakfast and, after breakfast, start trek to Tadapani via Banthanti.
From Ghorepani, the trail climbs south on the muddy path through the deep forests. The ridge along the trail hides the mountains and makes a steep, sometimes treacherous descent on a narrow path alongside the stream as the trail continues.
The steep descent becomes a more gentle way to reach Banthanti, where we stop for lunch.
From Banthanti, the trail follows the stream down to a bridge and starts climbing, and entering a field of cane, making some ups and downs past to a vantage point "Tadapani" that offers a brief view of the mountains.
Stay at Lodge/Tea House.
-
Day 4: Trek to Ghandrung Village (1951m) – 5 hours
The trail becomes slightly easy as we trek on a steady trail through the canopy of the forest.
Continue to walk, and after two hours, pass through rhododendron forest to reach the settlement named Baishi Kharka with a row of tea houses and lodges on a ridge; from here, trek downhill through the small settlements of the Gurung community and arrive at Gurung village which also boasts of a school. From, here again, down trek to Ghandruk. This area offers some of the finest trekking in Nepal.
The Annapurna range and Machapuchhere dominate the mountain views through glimpses further East to Lamjung Himal, and Manaslu Range is also possible.
Ghandrung village is rich through its excellent farming land and the generations of its sons who have sent and received pay and pensions from the British and Indian Gurkha armies.
Stay at Lodge/Tea House.
-
Day 5: Trek down to Nayapul & Back to Pokhara - 4 hours
After breakfast, trek through a pleasant downhill trail and then the trail levels out and follows the banks of the river.
After having spent a long time at higher altitudes, the heat sometimes makes travelling on the open riverbed an uncomfortable one.
After about 3 hours, arrive at the riverside settlement of Birethanti for lunch. This is also the main entry point to the Annapurna Conservation Area.
After lunch, walk along the high banks of the Modi Khola for about 30 minutes and end trek at Naya Pul to meet waiting vehicles for the one hour drive back to Pokhara.
Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel.
