The itinerary

1
Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu

  • Meet at the airport and transfer to your hotel.

  • After arrival, the group will be formally introduced to the guide and briefed about the activities over the next few days. Please pay particular attention to the safety aspects of the briefing. Any questions or doubts should be raised and clarified at this time. We will also check your insurance details and other trekking requirements.

  • Overnight stay in a hotel.

2
Day 02

Journey from Kathmandu to Pokhara

  • Drive or fly to Pokhara, situated beside Lake Fewa. It is a beautiful area with the fishtail mountain, Machapuchare, rising behind it. Pokhara is only 200 km from Kathmandu, and it can take 6-8 hours by road to reach there, depending on the season.

  • Overnight in a hotel.

3
Day 03

Pokhara to Nayapul and Trek to Tikhedhunga

  • After breakfast, fly to Pokhara and continue by drive to Birethanti to begin your trek to Ulleri (2070 m), which takes about five and a half hours.

  • The first part of your trek is easy, passing through numerous small villages and settlements.

  • Afterwards, you ascend gently to the final destination of the day. The majority of people here are Gurung, and they follow Buddhism. They are engaged in agricultural activities, the tourism business, and some serve in the Gorkha and Indian regiments.

  • You may then continue further, passing through Ulleri.

  • Stay in a trekking lodge. Full board.

4
Day 04

Ascent to Ghorepani

  • Today, we make our ascent to Ghorepani village. We begin by climbing to Banthanti and the Magar villages. On the way, you can see Machapuchare, Hiunchuli (6441 m), and Annapurna South (7219 m).

  • The trail from here becomes easier, passing through forests to the final camp. You may see some animals and various species of birds. The name Ghorepani in Nepali means 'horse-water', owing to its role as an important campsite for traders before it became a trekker's stop.

  • Overnight stay in a trekking lodge. Full board.

5
Day 05

Poon Hill Sunrise and Trek to Tadapani

  • Today is a special day as we conquer Poon Hill, an icon of the Annapurna region. We climb the steep trail to the top of Poon Hill (3200 m). The effort is rewarded with a spectacular view of Machapuchare, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Annapurna.

  • After taking photos and enjoying some coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, we return to Ghorepani.

  • Overnight stay in a trekking lodge. Full board.

6
Day 06

Tadapani to Sinuwa via Chhomrong

  • After breakfast, we head east and climb a nearby ridge. We descend through rhododendron forest, pass spectacular waterfalls along the way, and reach Tadapani.

  • Dropping down from Tadapani to Gurjung, the route offers a good view of the upper Modi Valley. The path then begins a long ascent, high above the west bank of the Modi Khola.

  • We pass the village of Chhomrong, which lies tucked at the very base of Himal Chuli.

  • From Chhomrong, the trail descends to Chhomrong Khola, then climbs gradually as we continue to our destination for the day, Sinuwa.

  • Overnight stay in a trekking lodge. Full board.

7
Day 07

Sinuwa to Deurali

  • We proceed to Kuldi Ghar, about 2 1/2 to 3 hours on foot. A little further into the forest, the route becomes very steep. The path turns rocky but levels out after a point. Always remain on the west side of the river.

  • We pass the pasture of Tomo and the narrow neck of the gorge at Pantheon Barah, where there is a small trail and a shrine. The track then climbs to the Himalaya hotel at the campsite.

  • Overnight stay in a trekking lodge. Full board.

8
Day 08

Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp

  • Today, we climb past Machapuchare Base Camp, which is not really a base camp since climbing the mountain is not permitted, and continue to Annapurna Base Camp. This area is called the Annapurna Sanctuary because it is completely surrounded by mountains. From here, it is a two-hour trek to Annapurna Base Camp, which offers a spectacular view.

  • Overnight stay in a trekking lodge. Full board.

9
Day 09

Descent from Annapurna Base Camp to Dovan

  • Trek from Annapurna Base Camp to Dovan (2630 m), which takes about five hours. It is much easier going downhill. You should have no problem reaching Sinuwa in a single day from Annapurna Base Camp.

  • Now, continue trekking to Dovan.

  • Overnight stay in a trekking lodge. Full board.

10
Day 10

Dovan to Jhinu Danda

  • It will take about 5 hours to trek from Dovan to Jhinu Danda. The path leads to Bamboo, passing through forests with varieties of rhododendron, oaks, and bamboo plants.

  • After Bamboo, the trail climbs steeply to Kuldi Ghar and becomes quite flat until you reach Sinuwa.

  • You gradually descend to the Chhomrong Khola, from where you must follow a stone staircase for almost an hour to reach Jhinu. It also has a natural hot spring.

  • Overnight stay in a trekking lodge. Full board.

11
Day 11

Trek to Nayapul and Drive to Pokhara

  • The trek from Chhomrong to Nayapul via Birethanti takes about 4 hours. You begin on a flat path, passing through forests, rocks, and terraces.

  • After Kimche (1638 m), the trail descends through human settlements and rice terraces to Seuli Bazaar.

  • From here, the trail follows the bank of the Modi Khola to Birethanti. En route, you also pass waterfalls. Birethanti is a small town with a few lodges, shops, and settlements.

  • Now, you walk up to Nayapul (New Bridge) for almost twenty minutes.

  • From Nayapul, you drive for an hour to Pokhara.

12
Day 12

Return to Kathmandu and Farewell Dinner

  • After breakfast, drive to Kathmandu. On the way, you pass through Damauli, Muglin, and Kurintar, where Nepal's first cable car opened, and reach Manakamana Temple.

  • From Naubishe, you climb to Thankot, the gateway to the capital city.

  • You are then taken directly to the hotel.

  • In the evening, we will take you for a farewell dinner with food and a traditional show.

  • Overnight stay in a hotel.

Know before you go

  • Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary, but as this is adventure travel in a remote mountain region, we cannot guarantee it. Weather conditions and the health of trekkers can all contribute to changes. The guides and their Sherpa assistants will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if necessary.
  • Experience required: this trek is suitable for keen walkers who are able to walk for 6-7 hours a day with a light rucksack. Some of the days are quite long, and the walking feels more strenuous at altitude. Generally, the trail is a good track, but occasionally it will be uneven and rocky.
  • Food & accommodation: you are accommodated in teahouses whilst on trek. A teahouse is a locally run guesthouse, but standards vary enormously. In popular areas such as Everest, teahouses are more like hotels, with hot water, Western food, and private rooms.
  • Recommended equipment list: trekkers must provide their own clothing and equipment. Some items of equipment are available for hire from us, such as sleeping bags and down jackets.
  • Footwear: well-broken-in walking shoes suitable for snow, thick socks, light socks, and camp shoes.
  • Clothing: down or fibre-filled waterproof jacket and trousers, sweater or fleece jacket, underwear, warm and cotton trousers or jeans, shirts and T-shirts, shorts, long underwear, wool hat, sun hat, gloves, bathing suit, and track suit.
  • Mode of payment: cash, credit card, and payment through bank.
  • Booking conditions: a non-refundable deposit of 10 percent must be paid at the time of booking, and the booking form must be completed.
  • Final payment is due 60 days prior to departure.
  • Travel insurance with unlimited medical coverage is compulsory.
  • A visa for Nepal can be obtained at Kathmandu airport. Please note that your passport must be valid for a minimum of 6 months after your return, and 2 passport-size pictures will be needed.
  • If cancellation is received in writing more than 45 days prior to departure, the non-refundable deposit will be retained (maximum 10% of the total land price).
  • If cancellation is received within 45 days of departure, the following per-person cancellation fees will apply:
    • 15-45 days prior to departure: 25% of total price.
    • 7-14 days prior to departure: 35% of total price.
    • Less than 7 days prior to departure: 50% of the total price (except for the total cost of government fees).
    • On departure day or later: 100% of the total price.
