Description

Enjoy a scenic flight to Lukla, the gateway to the Himalayas. Descend into lush pine forests, trekking towards the village of Phakding, where the Dudh Koshi River flows swiftly beneath suspension bridges. Continue to Namche Bazaar, the vibrant Sherpa town perched in the mountains, where you’ll take in breathtaking views from the Everest View Hotel. Immerse yourself in the spiritual atmosphere of Tengboche, home to a revered monastery surrounded by the majestic peaks of Ama Dablam and Everest. Traverse rugged trails to Dingboche, a serene village nestled amidst barley fields. Marvel at the grandeur of Everest Base Camp, then ascend to Kala Patthar, where the sunrise bathes Mount Everest in golden light before descending to the peaceful village of Pheriche.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m)
- Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel. You can spend the rest of the day exploring the city. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.
Day 2: Kathmandu to Lukla Flight – Trek to Phakding (2,610m, 3-4 hours trek)
- Take an early morning flight to Lukla (2,860m). From Lukla, begin your trek to Phakding, descending through pine forests and crossing suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River. Overnight stay in Phakding.
Day 3: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m, 5-6 hours trek)
- Trek alongside the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several suspension bridges, including the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge. Enter Sagarmatha National Park, and continue the uphill trek to Namche Bazaar, the gateway to Everest. Overnight stay in Namche.
Day 4: Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar – Hike to Everest View Hotel (3,880m)
- Spend the day acclimatizing in Namche Bazaar. You’ll hike to the Everest View Hotel for stunning panoramic views of Everest and surrounding peaks. Return to Namche for the night.
Day 5: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche Monastery (3,867m, 4-5 hours riding)
- Ride along the trail with beautiful views of Ama Dablam and Everest. You’ll reach Tengboche Monastery, a spiritual center in the region. Visit the monastery and enjoy the serene environment. Overnight stay in Tengboche.
Day 6: Tengboche Monastery to Dingboche (4,410m, 5-6 hours riding)
- Ride through scenic trails, passing through Pangboche village. The trail gradually climbs, leading to Dingboche, a peaceful village surrounded by fields of barley and potatoes. Overnight stay in Dingboche.
Day 7: Acclimatization Day in Dingboche and Side Trip (4-5 hours optional riding)
- Spend the day acclimatizing in Dingboche. Optionally, take a ride up to Chhukung (4,730m) for incredible views of Makalu and Lhotse. Overnight in Dingboche.
Day 8: Dingboche to Lobuche (4,910m, 5-6 hours riding)
- Ride towards Lobuche, passing through the windswept valleys and memorials dedicated to climbers. The route offers spectacular views of glaciers and surrounding peaks. Overnight stay in Lobuche.
Day 9: Lobuche – Everest Base Camp Trek – Gorakshep (5,164m, 6-7 hours riding/trekking)
- Ride to Gorakshep and trek to Everest Base Camp (5,364m), the ultimate destination for trekkers. After soaking in the views, return to Gorakshep for an overnight stay.
Day 10: Gorakshep – Kala Patthar – Pheriche (4,240m, 5-6 hours riding)
- In the early morning, ride to Kala Patthar (5,545m) for the best views of Mount Everest. Afterward, descend to Pheriche for an overnight stay.
Day 11: Pheriche to Namche Bazaar (3,440m, 5-6 hours riding)
- Ride downhill from Pheriche, retracing your steps through Pangboche and Tengboche, finally arriving back in Namche Bazaar. Overnight stay in Namche.
Day 12: Namche Bazaar to Lukla – Flight to Kathmandu (5-6 hours riding)
- Ride back to Lukla and take a flight to Kathmandu. If weather delays the flight, you may need to stay overnight in Lukla.
Day 13: Departure Day
- Transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure flight.

Trekking to Everest Base Camp (EBC) is an adventure of a lifetime but requires preparation. The trek reaches altitudes over 5,000 meters, so acclimatization is essential to avoid altitude sickness. Make sure you're physically fit and trained for long hikes. The best seasons are pre-monsoon (March-May) and post-monsoon (September-November) for clear skies and comfortable temperatures.

Pack appropriate gear, including layers for cold weather, good trekking boots, and a quality sleeping bag. Take a guide for guiding the route with Trek Mania Nepal and a porter for carrying your load. Don't forget to get the required permits, including the Sagarmatha National Park entry permits. Finally, be mindful of the local culture and environment—respect Sherpa traditions and avoid leaving any waste behind.
