Description

Watch Orangutans mess around at the Rehabilitation Centre and visit the Conservation centre to see the world's smallest bears. Also, discover the wildlife and birds along Sabah's longest river with your Malaysia tour guide.

  • Day 1: Explore Sandakan city expand_more
    • Transfer to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre with your Sandakan guide, where orphaned and injured orangutans learn to fend for themselves back in the wild. 

    • Visit Sabah's first Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC), next to the Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre, founded by Mr Wong Siew Te and get a glimpse of the world's smallest bear from the observation platform.

    • Pick-up and transfer to Sandakan Yacht Club Jetty for the boat ride to the lodge in Abai, Kinabatangan. The 1.5 hours boat ride will take you across Sandakan Bay, passing the historical Berhala Island and fishing villages.

    • Arrive at the lodge, and enjoy lunch at the restaurant.

    • Walk along Sabah's longest river and see Kinabatangan and its wildlife and birds, including the famous endemic Proboscis Monkeys, wild Orangutans, Crocodiles, long-tail or short-tail Macaques, Borneo Pygmy Elephant, birds such as hornbill, kingfisher, in its secondary rainforest habitat and limestone caves of Gomantong.

    • Observe the fireflies shimmering as the evening falls before cruising back to the resort for dinner.

    • Take a stroll along the boardwalks with your headlamps or torch and look for nocturnal wildlife (depends on the weather conditions). It will take about one hour, and return to the lodge.

  • Day 2: Drive to Pitas Oxbow Lake expand_more
    • Start the day with a cruise to Pitas Oxbow Lake and observe more wildlife and birds. 

    • Continue to the local fishing village, Kampung Abai. 

    • Interact with the local Orang Sungai (River People) and observe the daily activities in this tiny fishing village. 

    • Return to the lodge and get served at a restaurant. 

    • If the weather is favourable, proceed for the night cruise to search for nocturnal wildlife animals and birds with your private Sandakan tour guide.

  • Day 3: Final Departure expand_more
    • After breakfast, proceed to check out the Sandakan Yacht Club Jetty by boat ride for about 1.5 hours.

    • Arrive at the jetty and proceed for lunch.

    • After lunch, transfer to the hotel or Sandakan Airport. End of services.
