After hotel pick-up in the morning, the day starts at the Botahtaung Pagoda, a religious monument rumoured to have been built 2,500 years ago and contain a Buddha's hair. The stupa is highly revered in the Buddhist community and one of the city’s most important landmarks.
Explore the picturesque center of Yangon, which hosts Sule Pagoda (view from outside), Mahabandoola Park, City Hall and the High Court with your Yangon tour guide.
Visit Yangon’s largest outdoor market, Bogyoke Aung San Market (closed on Mondays and public holidays). Hosting vendors from across the country, you will squeeze through stalls of clothing, handicrafts, and jewellery, sipping on fruit juice and perusing art galleries.
Afterwards, you will change gears and hop on the circular train. For an hour, you will ride the rails, cutting through the hustle of the city. The train offers a closer look into the lives of its passengers: commuters, fruit vendors, monks, families and students on their way to class. Set off to the magnificent reclining Buddha, Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda.
Stop at the local tea shop to taste some of the Burmese people’s favourite snacks and Myanmar national drink, ''Le phet yey'', a strong black tea perfectly blended with evaporated and condensed milk.
Proceed to Shwedagon Pagoda, Myanmar’s most distinctive landmark. Aside from its 99-meter-high stupa that hovers over the city’s skyline, Shwedagon is Myanmar’s most sacred pagoda and a major pilgrimage site.
After taking in the sunset, you will be returned to the hotel.
