Itinerary
-
Day 1: Kandy
- You will be warmly welcomed by our airport assistant and chauffeur, who will transfer you to the mesmerising city of Kandy.
En route, visit the Elephant orphanage. This orphanage was set up by the government to take care of baby elephants who were lost or abandoned in the wild. Witness the feeding of these elephants. Thereafter, observe them as they take their daily bath in the river nearby, which offer marvellous photo opportunities. Bathing time is enjoyed by all elephants, young and old alike, and it is a good time to closely observe their tightly-knit family structure. (Daily feeding times - 9.15 am, 1.15 pm, and 5.00 pm. Bathing times – 10.00 am, 2.00 pm, and 4.00 pm.)
On arrival in Kandy, check in at the hotel.
In the afternoon, you will be taken on a tour of Kandy which is one of the eight UNESCO World Heritage sites in Sri Lanka. It is famous for the Temple of the Tooth which houses the most sacred religious relic, the tooth of the Buddha. The Kandy Lake was built in 1807 and is an attractive centrepiece of the town.
-
Day 2: Nuwara Eliya
- After breakfast, leave for Nuwara Eliya. En route, visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens where a rare collection of tropical, exotic, and indigenous flora including the famous Orchid House, can be viewed.
Arrive in Nuwara Eliya. The beautiful town of Nuwara Eliya, set in the heart of the tea country 1890 meters above sea level, is the place where the British succeeded in creating an English countryside.
-
Day 3: Nuwara Eliya
- Spend your day at leisure.
In the afternoon, at your convenience, commence a sightseeing tour of the city.
-
Day 4: Kitulgala
- After breakfast leave for Bentota via Kitulgala. En route, visit Belilena in Kitulgala, which is a very large cave in which 12,000-year-old skeletal remains of the prehistoric ‘Balangoda man’ have been found.
Thereafter, visit the location where the famous World War II movie “Bridge on the River Kwai” was filmed.
On completion, proceed to Bentota, a tourist resort in the south with the most beautiful, wide and sandy beaches.
