Itinerary

1. Day 1: Bandaranaike International Airport to Sigirya

   • Pick up from the Bandaranaike International Airport and travel to Anuradhapura. 
   • Check-in at a hotel in Sigiriya and freshen up.
   • Head to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress on a bullock cart.
   • Witness the Sri Lankan rural life and have an Ayurvedic massage in one of the villages on the way.    
   • Arrive at the fortress, which is the most exquisite example of ancient Sri Lankan art, architecture and landscaping that has been built over 1,600 years ago.
   • See the beautiful frescoes of semi-naked nymphs and a large gatehouse in the form of a lion that guarded the entrance to the innermost sanctum of the city, the Sky Palace.

2. Day 2: Sigriya to Polonaruwa to Sigriya

   • Pick up from the hotel in Sigiriya and visit Polonnaruwa archaeological site, including Vatadage, NIssanka Lata, Mandapaya and other highlights.
   • Continue to Minneriya National Park, situated in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka. 
   • See the catchment of the Minneriya tank and the wildlife in the surrounding area.
   • Look for large numbers of Sri Lankan elephants that are attracted to the grass fields on the edges of the reservoir during the dry season.
   • Head to Sigirya and relax at the hotel.

3. Day 3: Sigiriya to Trincomalee

   • Pick up from the hotel in Sigiriya and travel to Trincomalee. 
   • Check-in at a hotel in Trincomalee and spend the entire day relaxing at the hotel.

4. Day 4: Trincomalee City Tour

   • Pick up from the hotel and travel to the beautiful islet off Trincomalee coast, Pigeon Island, on a boat. 
   • Explore the Pigeon Island, where the sea off the coast is shallow for a fair distance and is protected by coral reefs that act as breakwaters. 
   • Snorkel in the waters of this scenic island and watch whales and dolphins.

5. Day 5: Trincomalee to Kandy

   • Pick up from the hotel and travel to Kandy.
   • Visit the Thirukoneswaram Temple and the Marble Beach, a stretch of coast known for its smooth white sands and clear waters, on the way.
   • Check-in at a hotel in Kandy and spend the entire day relaxing at the hotel.

6. Day 6: Kandy City Tour

   • Pick up from the hotel in Kandy and travel to the Temple of the Tooth Relic, one of the most sacred places of worship in the Buddhist world that houses the relic of Lord Buddha’s tooth.
   • Visit the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden on the way renowned for its collection of orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees.
   • Continue to the Gem Museum in Kandy and head to the Kandy View Point.
   • Walk around Kandy Lake and enjoy a shopping excursion around the city.

7. Day 7: Kandy to Nuwara Eliya

   • Pick up from the hotel in Kandy and travel to Nuwara Eliya.
   • Visit the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden on the way renowned for its collection of orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees.
   • Discover Ramboda Falls and a local tea factory en route.
   • Arrive at Nuwara Eliya and check-in at a hotel.

8. Day 8: Nuwara Eliya City Tour

   • Pick up from the hotel and drive through tea plantation districts of Nuwara Eliya, known locally as ‘Little England’ as it is dotted with British style houses, hotels and a racecourse. 
   • Enjoy a walk in the hills around the town and spend some time at the local bazaar. 
   • Visit Horton Plains, a large plateau overlooked by the second and third highest peaks in Sri Lanka.

9. Day 9: Nuwara Eliya to Ella

   • Pick up from the hotel in Nuwara Eliya and enjoy a scenic rail ride to Ella, a peaceful village in the central highlands of Sri Lanka.
   • Discover the village's natural beauty with its waterfalls, greenery, and hills.

10. Day 10: Ella to Tissamaharama

    • Pick up from the hotel in Ella and travel to Tissamaharama.
    • Continue to Yala National Park for a game safari.

11. Day 11: Tissamaharama to Mirissa
