The itinerary

1
Day 01

Nairobi to Old Moses Camp via Nanyuki and Sirimon Gate

  • Depart from Nairobi after breakfast and drive toward Nanyuki.
  • Meet your team or get picked up from your hotel or residence in Nanyuki around 9:30 AM.
  • Proceed to Sirimon Gate of Mount Kenya National Park within 45 minutes.
  • Enjoy lunch at the gate and meet the mountain crew.
  • Begin hiking through the rainforest along a paved trail to reach Old Moses Camp (3300m) in approximately 3 hours.

Eat dinner and spend the night at Old Moses Camp.

Day 02

Trek from Old Moses Camp to Shipton's Camp

  • Wake up early and eat breakfast.
  • Start trekking uphill through Ontulili and Likii Valleys.
  • Continue through Mackinders Valley and experience varied alpine terrain.
  • Stop for lunch along the way.
  • Arrive at Shipton's Camp after a 6 to 7-hour hike.

Eat dinner and stay overnight at Shipton's Camp.

Day 03

Pre-Dawn Summit of Point Lenana and Descent to Met Station

  • Wake up at 2:00 AM and eat a light breakfast.
  • Begin a pre-dawn hike to Point Lenana, the third-highest peak of Mount Kenya.
  • Reach the summit in approximately 3 hours and watch the spectacular sunrise.
  • Take photos and enjoy the panoramic views.
  • Descend via the Naromoru Route, passing Austrian and Mackinders Camps.
  • Continue through Teleki Valley and reach Met Station Camp (3300m) after a 5-hour descent.

Eat dinner and rest overnight at the Met Station.

Day 04

Descend to Naromoru Gate and Return to Nanyuki or Nairobi

  • Wake up early and eat breakfast.
  • Trek down through dense forest, covering a distance of 9 km.
  • Look out for wildlife along the trail.
  • Arrive at Naromoru Gate (2600m) and celebrate with your trekking team.
  • Board your vehicle and travel back to Nanyuki for onward transfer to Nairobi.
  • Conclude the journey and reflect on the Mount Kenya experience.
