- Begin your day by arriving at Wakayama Station, where you can purchase a one-day local bus pass for unlimited travel throughout the city.
Ride the local bus to Wakayama Castle, a striking hilltop fortress with sweeping views of the city and traces of the samurai era. Explore the surrounding gardens and castle keep to gain a sense of Edo-period architecture and regional power.
Walk to the nearby Wakayama City Museum to learn about the city’s growth, trade history, and the legacy of the Kishū Tokugawa clan.
Continue to the Wakayama Prefectural Museum, which houses historical artifacts and cultural exhibits that further illuminate the area’s samurai heritage.
