Kanchipuram Temples, Silk Weaving and Astrology from Chennai
- Depart early from Chennai in a private air-conditioned vehicle and enjoy a scenic drive through the countryside, covering approximately 70 km in about 2 hours.
- Arrive in Kanchipuram and take a short refreshment break.
- Visit Ekambareswarar Temple, one of South India's largest temple complexes dedicated to Lord Shiva.
- Admire the towering gopurams, vast courtyards, and the sacred ancient mango tree believed to be over 3,500 years old.
- Continue to Kailasanathar Temple, the oldest temple in Kanchipuram and a Pallava-era masterpiece of early Dravidian architecture.
- Observe its intricate sandstone carvings and gain insight into the origins of South Indian temple design.
- Visit Kamakshi Amman Temple and experience the sacred ambiance of this revered shrine dedicated to Goddess Kamakshi.
- Learn about its significance as one of the three principal Shakti abodes in India.
- Pause for lunch at a local restaurant and enjoy a traditional South Indian meal with authentic regional flavours.
- Visit Varadaraja Perumal Temple, one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
- Admire its grand architecture, expansive corridors, and intricately sculpted pillars reflecting Chola and Vijayanagara craftsmanship.
- Enjoy a silk weaving experience at a traditional Kanchipuram workshop, where you will witness the handweaving process.
- Learn about the meticulous techniques using pure mulberry silk and zari threads passed down through generations.
- You may also participate in an optional personalised session with a local astrologer based on Vedic astrology.
- Charges for the astrology session are not included in the tour and are approximately ₹5,000-₹6,000 per participant, payable directly.
- Our guide will assist with translation if required.
- Begin the return journey to Chennai and arrive by evening, concluding the tour.
