M A N O L I S M A V R A K I S I am Manolis Mavrakis, your personal guide in Crete. I have been a licensed Trekking guide for many years and have intimate knowledge of Cretan terrain, most specifically in my homeland, the Chania region. I develop and lead walking, hiking and cycling tours. I am an avid outdoorsman who loves my backyard Crete and I am always willing to make you understand and appreciate the history, geography, and culture of my people, past and present. ...Our guide, Manolis Mavrakis, a native of Crete , with dual U.S.and Greek citizenship, capably led us across the challenging landscape, but perhaps his greatest contribution was his knowledge of the best inns and little family-run cafes where we were treated to the real Greek foods most tourists rarely experience.Manolis is a passionate advocate for his island and knows it as only a native son can.As much as one person can do for another, we saw the island through his eyes, and this too, was a great pleasure.
