Itinerary

1. Day 1: Akwaaba (Welcome)

   • Arrive in Accra and meet Landtours representatives at the airport.
   • Transfer to the hotel and attend an orientation session.
   • Dressmakers take measurements for traditional outfits for interested participants.
   • Enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel.

2. Day 2: Accra City Tour

   • Have breakfast and start a guided sightseeing tour of Accra, Ghana’s capital.
   • Visit the W.E.B. Du Bois Center for Pan African Culture and Independence Square.
   • Tour the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and learn about Ghana’s first President.
   • Visit the museum, mausoleum, and landscaped gardens.
   • End the tour at the Arts Centre to shop for Ghanaian crafts and fabrics.

   Overnight stay at The Pelican Hotel with breakfast.

3. Day 3: Slave Dungeon Experience – Elmina Castle

   • After breakfast, check out and travel to Elmina.
   • Enjoy lunch before touring Elmina Castle, built in 1482 by the Portuguese.
   • Learn about the castle’s history in the trans-Atlantic slave trade.
   • Walk through the dungeons and visit the symbolic Door of No Return.
   • Reflect on the resilience and history of enslaved Africans.

   Overnight stay at Anomansa Beach Resort, Elmina. Meals include breakfast and lunch.

4. Day 4: Canopy Walkway and Kakum Rain Forest – Cape Coast Castle

   • After breakfast, drive through the Denkyira Kingdom to Kakum National Park.
   • Take a 2 km forest walk or enjoy the thrilling canopy walkway.
   • After lunch, visit Cape Coast Castle and learn about its role in the slave trade.
   • Explore the West African Historical Museum within the castle.

5. Day 5: Global Mamas Batik Making

   • Have breakfast and visit Global Mamas for a hands-on batik-making workshop.
   • Learn traditional techniques using wax and dye to create vibrant fabrics.
   • Create your own two yards of batik cloth to take home.
   • After lunch, return to the hotel and relax.

6. Day 6: Kumasi City Tour

   • After breakfast, drive inland to Kumasi, heart of the Ashanti Kingdom.
   • Stop at Assin Manso to visit the Slave River and reflect on history.
   • Continue to Kumasi and explore the Manhyia Palace Museum.
   • Learn about the Golden Stool and Ashanti cultural heritage.

   Overnight stay at Lancaster Kumasi Hotel. Meals include breakfast and dinner.

7. Day 7: Kumasi City Tour Continuation – Accra

   • After breakfast, visit the Prempeh Museum to see Ashanti regalia and artefacts.
   • View monuments and statues celebrating the Ashanti kings.
   • Depart from Kumasi to Accra and check into the hotel.

   Enjoy a farewell dinner at The Pelican Hotel. Meals include breakfast and dinner.

8. Day 8: Farewell and Departure

   • Have breakfast and spend time packing or shopping.
   • Check out at noon and transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
