Description
Peterborough is an ancient city with many stories to tell. Peterborough Cathedral and Burghley House are the most famous, but there are also tales of railways, brickworks, Napoleonic prisoners of war, Flag Fen and Must Farm (Bronze Age), farming and fen drainage. Travelling between them needs a car.

A day in Peterborough and the Fens
- 9.30 - Pick up from Peterborough Railway Station; 20-minute walk to Cathedral.
- 10.00 - Visit the Cathedral for a highlights guided tour of the church and historic surroundings.
- 11.30 - Drive past Flag Fen and River Nene to Thorney.
- 12.15 - Lunch at Tea@18 (costs not included).
- 1.00 -1.45 - Post-lunch walk around the village and visit Medieval Abbey.
- 2.00 - 3.00 - Drive to Burghley House via seeing Crowland Abbey, Peakirk, Northborough, Helpston (birthplace of poet John Clare) and Barnack.
- 3.00 - 4.30 - Visit Burghley house (ticket includes guides in the house).
- 5.30 - Drop back at Peterborough Railway Station.
