The itinerary

Day 01

Nairobi to Ol Pejeta and Sweetwaters Game Sanctuary

  • Meet your Kenyan guide/driver at 7:00 am for a safari briefing before driving to the famous Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

  • Arrive at camp with enough time to settle in before lunch and enjoy a little time to relax.

  • Head out for your first game drive between 15:00 and 18:30. Home to all members of the 'Big Five' - elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo, and leopard - the conservancy has a higher wildlife-to-area ratio than any Kenyan national park and is one of only four private game conservancies founded in Kenya. At the forefront of the Kenyan conservancy programme, it boasts the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, hosts the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya, and shelters large numbers of rare and endangered species.

  • Spend the night at a luxury camp, a sheltered oasis clustered around a water hole and set in the pristine calm of the private Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Sweetwaters Serena Camp offers a charming blend of under-canvas ambience and Kenyan safari luxury.

Main Destination: Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Overnight: Sweetwaters Serena Camp (Luxury Tented Camp located inside Ol Pejeta Conservancy)

  • Head out for your evening game drive between 16:00 and 18:30. Lake Nakuru National Park offers a rare insight into Kenya's diverse flora, fauna, and wildlife and is famous for its huge flocks of pink flamingoes. The birds gather on Lake Nakuru itself, one of the Rift Valley soda lakes that comprises almost a third of the park's area.

The Maasai Mara is one of the lushest reserves in Africa and is globally renowned for the Great Migration, when thousands of wildebeest, zebra, and Thomson's gazelle travel to and from the Serengeti from July through October. In the Mara River, throngs of hippos and crocodiles lurk.

The Maasai Mara Game Reserve is known for excellent predator sightings in their natural habitats, thanks to its relatively large populations of lion, cheetah, and leopard. You will also see lots of elephants, Masai giraffe, common zebra, impala, Thompson's and Grant's gazelles, topi, hartebeest, black-backed jackal, spotted hyena, and more.
