The journey
Take on a great challenge with this adventurous Mount Kenya trek, following the scenic Sirimon Route up and descending via Chogoria. Experience striking contrasts along the mountain, from lush green forests and U-shaped valleys to the temple, mushroom rocks, and gorge valleys on the Chogoria side. The route passes through different microclimatic zones, with Chogoria being wetter and moister than Sirimon. This itinerary starts and ends in Nairobi, covers 90 km, is rated moderate in difficulty, and includes accommodation in huts and camping.
Leave at 3:00 am and head up a steep, stony quarry that cuts through a cliff, clearing the visible part towards the lower Hall Tarns, arriving at Point Lenana at 6:30 am after about 3 hours.
