Description

Delve deep into the pristine wilderness with lakes, tarns, glaciers, dense forests, mineral springs and views of rare and endangered species of animals during this trek. Climb Africa’s second-highest mountain and the highest of all in the Kenyan Mountains in just 4 days. While going up, see unique alpine vegetation and enjoy your reward at Lenana Point of breathtaking mountain scenery! 

Highlights

  • Day 1: Nairobi to Met Station expand_more

    • Pick-up from the accommodation in Nairobi (or other location).

    • Drive to Naro Moru town. 

    • Proceed to the park gate for registration. 

    • Begin the hike through 8 km of a beautiful rainforest. 

    • Arrive at Met station (3,050 m/10,200 ft).

    Have dinner and overnight stay in the hut.

  • Day 2: Met Station to Mackinders Camp expand_more

    • Have an early breakfast.

    • Hike and get into a steep bog and walk through Teleki valley, named after the Hungarian explorer Samuel Teleki. (6-7 hours hike)

    • Arrive at Mackinders camp (4200 m/14000 ft) to have lunch and rest. 

    Have dinner and overnight stay in the hut.

  • Day 3: Point Lenana expand_more

    • Get up at 02:00 am to summit Point Lenana (4985 m/16355 ft) in time for sunrise. 

    • Take a walk for 4 hours through long scree and summit at dawn. 

    • See an incredible view of beautiful peaks, tarn lakes, glaciers and valleys. 

    • Descend to Met Station for dinner and overnight stay at the hut.
  • Day 4: Departure expand_more

    • Descend to the Park Gate and return to Nairobi.

    • Optional: Stay overnight at Naro Moru River lodge before returning to Nairobi.
