I was born and raised in the foothills of Mt.Kenya, where my interest in nature and animals [sensitive content]day, I am one of the top naturalists in the beautiful Mt.Kenya region, Africa’s second-highest mountain.
During my childhood days, I would spend my leisure time watching National Geographic films.I continued to pursue my passion for nature throughout my school days.I enrolled as a member of the Wildlife Clubs of Kenya and began practising as a tour guide while still in high school.I later joined Dedan Kimathi University of Technology for a Tourism Management Degree course.
After completing my university education, I joined the Mt.Kenya Biodiversity Conservation Group, a local Site Support Group affiliated with Nature Kenya.Through the group, I have managed to engage local community members in birds’ conservation and regularly lead bird walks at the Mt.Kenya Forest and its environs.I am passionate about research and biodiversity profiling projects.
While on campus, I conducted a research project on the population of Hinde’s Babblers in the Mukurwe-ini region; an endangered bird species that is also endemic to Kenya.I have also completed a certificate course in Fundamentals of Ornithology at Elsamere Field Study Centre.I am a member of Nature Kenya- the East African Natural History Society.
I am also very passionate about reptiles, and often engage my tour groups in amazing fun facts about the flora and fauna of East Africa.I have continued to enrich my skills by travelling across many parts of Kenya, making me an all-rounded and resourceful guide.
