Description

Tread the rugged terrains of Simien Mountains National Park, including lush escarpments, deep valleys, and high plateaus. Encounter rare Walia ibex and gelada baboons while exploring the tall Ethiopian peaks with your private tour guide.

  • Day 1 : Gondar to Sankobar expand_more
    • Begin with a pick up from Gondar city. Drive from Gondar to Debark.
    • Obtain a permit from the Park headquarters and collect the obligatory scout before beginning the trek at Buytras (Simien Lodge) and reach the Sankaber campsite in 3-4 hours.
    • During the walk, there is a good chance of spotting gelada baboons.
    • End at Sankaber (3250m above sea level) for the first overnight camp.
  • Day 2 : Sankabar to Gich expand_more
    • Begin the 5-7 hour walk to Gich. En route stop at the spectacular Jinbar Waterfall. 
    • After descending down to the Jinbar Wenz (which feeds the waterfall) a short ascent remains to Gich village.
    • Upon arrival, explore the great views of the mountains, characterized by giant lobelia plants. The nearby Kedadit summit provides one of the best places to witness the sunset. Overnight stay at Gich.
  • Day 3 : Gich - Ambaras - gondar expand_more
    • Trek from Gich to the Imet Gogo promontory, for one of the most spectacular views in the whole mountain range. This is a great day for seeing the magnificent Lammergeier vultures.
    • From Imet Gogo, trek back to the road near a village called Ambaras. The trek will last approximately 4-5 hours.
    • Meet the car for the drive back to Gondar.
