Take an early pick up from the hotel in Cairo and travel 130 kms through the Alexandria desert Road.
Continue to the valley of Natron, source of the Natron used in the mummification process. This area is also renowned, as the holy family passed though it during their flight to Egypt. It is said that the divine baby Jesus spoke to his mother about the thousands of monks who will reside here.
Head to the 4th century monastery of the Sorian, named after Virgin Mary, where Syrian monks used to reside.
