Description
A legend tells that after God was done painting the sky, he washed the brushes in Rio Celeste. The colours at Rio Celeste are truly magnificent, and this hike will take you to many picture-perfect sights. After the hike, you will visit the Sloth Sanctuary to see different species of sloths in their natural habitat.
Itinerary

Rio Celeste and Sloth Sanctuary
- Depart at 7:30 am.
- Once at Tenorio Volcano National Park, your guide will give a short introduction, and then the hike starts through the tropical rainforest, where fauna and flora are plentiful.
- During the hike, we will visit “Los Teñideros”, where two streams of crystalline water come together and form the incredible blue colour that gives the river its name.
- On the hike, you also come by the volcano’s furnace vents that expel gases of extremely high temperatures.
- On the way, you will also see the spectacular Rio Celeste waterfall, whose colours make it one of a kind!
- Next, we go to the Sloth Sanctuary, where we see two different species of sloths and wildlife in their natural habitat. These creatures are truly majestic.
- The final reward is an exquisite traditional meal at the end of the journey.
