Day 01

Montes de María Hike, Petroglyphs, and Cultural Visit

• 5:30 am - Drive out of Cartagena to Montes de María. Hike to discover the flora, fauna, and petroglyphs left by the indigenous people of this region.

• 12:30 pm - Enjoy a typical lunch in the area.

• 2:00 pm - Visit a town in the region to learn about its history and culture.

• 2:00 pm - Leave the region.

• Closed-toe shoes and long pants are mandatory because the hike is in the forest. There will be mud, creeks, and rocks on the path. Bring sandals (flip-flops) to wear after the hike, as they are more comfortable.

• A plastic bag for wet shoes

• A light rain jacket or an umbrella. Rain is possible from April to November.

• An extra change of clothes

Physicality, Travel Style & Cultural Shock:

• These trips involve hiking or walking for up to three hours (approximately 4 miles) a day at a slow pace on undulating terrain with small rocks, and you will cross shallow streams. The itinerary takes place in remote areas. To enjoy these adventures, we suggest reasonable fitness and health, a moderately active lifestyle, and a positive attitude. Be prepared for potentially variable weather conditions. Rain is possible from April to December.

• Due to the nature of the activities undertaken on this trip, pregnant women, children under 7 years old, and minors unaccompanied by their parents or legal guardians are not allowed.
