Description

Go on a 4-day tour to Paro and Thimphu and take a glimpse of Bhutan. Learn about Bhutan and its people, culture, heritage, scenic beauty, and pristine environment. Interact with the locals and visit many historical places and understand the subject.

  • Day 1 :Arrive in Paro expand_more
    • Check-in Hotel in Paro.

    • After lunch, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the two oldest Lhakhang in the Country built in 659A.D by the Tibetan King Songsten Gyampo.

    • Head to Ta Dzong, the National Museum. The museum collection includes ancient Bhutanese art and artifacts, weapons, coins, stamps, and small natural history.

    • Go to Paro Rinpung Dzong, situated at a commanding height overlooking Paro valley. Built by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1646, this dzong now houses Paro's monk body and the offices of the civil administration and is symbolic as the religious and secular center of all the affairs of the valley.

    • Stroll around Paro town.

  • Day 2 : Full-day at Paro expand_more
    • Hike to Taktsang. The trail is broad and the walk uphill takes you a little more than 1000ft above the Paro Valley. The view of the Taktsang monastery built on the cliff is a spectacular sight. It is also a great pilgrim site for Buddhists.

    • Go to the Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery, built in the 1600s (Alt.3100m). It’s a 3 hr walk uphill to the Monastery. It will take about an hour to see the monastery. (Horses can be provided to clients on request for the hike upwards).

    • Drive to Drugyel Dzong, the ruined fortress which was built in 1649 to commemorate the victory over the Tibetan invasion of 1644. Just before Drugyel Dzong lies the Aman Resorts.

  • Day 3 : Paro-Thimphu-Paro expand_more
    • In the morning, drive to Thimphu, the capital which is 1.20 hours drive from Paro following the Pachu River, and at the confluence where Thimphu River meets the Paro river we have three styled stone monument. Tibetan, Nepalese, and Bhutanese styled.

    • Along the way, visit Tachogang Lhakhang, built by Thangthong Gyalpo, the 15th century Tibetan saint known for building 108 iron chain link bridges throughout Bhutan and Tibet. The saint is believed to have come to Bhutan in search of Iron ore.

    • Stroll into memorial Chorten, which depicts the Buddhist faith in form of paintings and statues. This temple was first initiated by the Third King as a protection from the negative elements of modernization. The Royal Queen Mother completed it as a memorial stupa for the third King who passed away in the year 1972.

    • Visit the traditional paper factory, which displays the making of the Bhutanese paper.

    • Next, go to a school for arts and crafts where the children were taught to master in the 13 types of arts and crafts of Bhutan, a post office which has Bhutan's beautiful stamps and then visit the traditional hospital. The national library is another sight to see the collection of Bhutanese scriptures some dating back from the 8th century.

    • Hop in a Folk heritage museum, that is patronized by HM the Queen Sangay Choden Wangchuck to protect the textile heritage of Bhutan. There are some old collections along with the display of vegetable dyes and materials used for Bhutanese textiles. The traditional paper factory displays the Bhutanese papermaking in process. Stroll around Thimphu city.

    • In the evening, drive back to Paro.

  • Day 3 : Departure expand_more
    • After an early breakfast in the hotel, drive to the airport for a flight to the onward destination.
