1. Belogradchik fortres

2. Belogradchik rocks

   • Belogradchik Rocks are an amazing creation of nature that ignites equally the interest of scientists, tourists and adventurers.
   • The rock shapes are amazing and diverse biblical characters, animals, fantastic creatures, castles, towers and composition and everything that can be born in the human imagination. They are beautifully located in the forested foothills of the Western Stara Planina Range around the town of Belogradchik.

   How were these wonderful creations formed?

   • 230 million years ago, thick layers of sandstone were formed. 
   • Over the next 200 million years, layers of limestone were deposited on top of them. Then, the movement of the continents folded the Earth's crust in the area, creating huge cracks and exposing the old sandstones. 
   • Then water, wind and sun began to shape the rocks into fantastic shapes, in a creative process that continues to this day.
   • A huge natural gallery stretching for 30 km exhibits majestic creations such as as the Madonna with the Baby, the Horseman, the Monks, The Schoolgirl, the Bear, the Dinosaur and the hundreds of others, which you can name whatever you want.
