Itinerary

1. Day 1: Luanda City Tour

   • Explore Luanda, Angola’s lively capital and main port.
   • Stop at the Iron Palace, a historic building inspired by Gustav Eiffel, featuring local art exhibits.
   • Drive through Ilha do Cabo, a 7 km-long scenic peninsula.
   • Visit the Fortress of São Miguel, a 17th-century fortress and National Museum of Military History.
   • Drive past the Mausoleum of Agostinho Neto, resting place of Angola’s first president.
   • Stop at the Moon Viewpoint — Miradouro da Lua, a lunar-like landscape shaped by erosion.
   • Visit the Slavery Museum, a 17th-century church turned museum about Angola’s slavery history.
   • Browse the Arts & Crafts Market for souvenirs before lunch and transfer to accommodation.

2. Day 2: Luanda – Kalandula Falls – Malanje

   • Early morning departure for Kalandula Falls (~7–8 hrs, 520 km drive).
   • Stop in Ndalatando to walk through the Rosas de Porcelana Botanical Garden.
   • Arrive at Kalandula Falls in the early afternoon and spend 1–2 hours enjoying the 105-meter-high, 400-meter-wide waterfall.
   • Take the short, challenging road to the base of the falls for a unique perspective.

   Overnight at Pousada de Kalandula, located in front of the falls.

3. Day 3: Pedras Negras & Return to Luanda

   • Drive (~2 hrs, 65 km) to Pedras Negras (The Black Stones), a mysterious geological formation with historical significance from the Kingdom of Ndongo.
   • Stop for lunch in Dondo near the river.
   • Drive back to Luanda (~6 hrs), arriving in the evening.

   Overnight at Hotel IlhaMar or similar.
