Visit the Roman remains of the city walls before walking up the hill to visit the magnificent St. Albans Abbey, the ancient cathedral of the city, and an early Christian martyr's resting place. St. Albans is full of history from the near overthrow of Roman rule by Queen Boudicea who burned the city and massacred its population to more recent Civil War battles.
Visit the authentic English market or the Ancient Church (which is supposedly the resting place of Sir Francis Bacon). Optional visits to the Roman Museum and Outdoor Coliseum can be made.
