  • Day 1: Nairobi - Amboseli National Park expand_more
    • Meet your tour guide at your hotel in Nairobi and head south to Amboseli. The drive will be via the Nairobi - Mombasa highway, through open expanses of African savannah dotted with acacia woodland, into the Maasai county. The drive is approximately 240 km.
    • You will arrive in time for lunch and check-in at Sentrim Camp. In the late afternoon, you will experience your first game drive in the park, when animals are most active as the temperature drops.
    • You will then return to the camp before dusk for dinner and overnight.
  • Day 2: Amboseli National Park expand_more
    • After an early breakfast, you will depart with a picnic lunch for Amboseli National Park. Despite its changing habitat, Amboseli is the best wildlife area in Kenya to experience big herds of elephants at a close range. They are less harassed by poachers and you can easily see them feeding and bathing at the swamps, making it the highlight of your day.
    • You will enjoy your lunch at the Namatior Observation Hill with its base forming a permanent water reservoir full of hippos.
    • Return on an en-route game drive to your camp, arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight.
  • Day 3: Amboseli National Park - Tsavo West National Park expand_more
    • After an early breakfast, you will check out of the camp and drive to Tsavo West National Park. This route takes you through the most recent lava flows called Shetani, a name from the local community meaning 'the Devil', as they believe their land had been visited by devils during the time of eruption approximately 200 years ago.
    • You will then proceed with a game drive en-route and check-in at the Severin Safari Camp for lunch.
    • In the afternoon, you will visit Mzima Springs with a game drive en route in search of the elusive leopard.
    • You will then head back to the camp for dinner and overnight.
  • Day 4: Tsavo West National Park expand_more
    • After breakfast and check out, you will depart for Tsavo East via the Rhino Valley and the Rhino sanctuary with a game drive en-route, toward the exit of the Tsavo River gate.
    • You will get on the Nairobi Mombasa highway for a 30-minute drive and head to the Voi gate at Tsavo East for park formalities.
    • You will proceed with a game drive en-route to the Ashnil Aruba Lodge, arriving in time for check-in and lunch.
    • Later in the afternoon, you will embark on an afternoon game drive in search of the big tuskers.
    • You will then return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
  • Day 5: Tsavo West National Park - Tsavo East National Park expand_more
    • Rise early, have a cup of tea or coffee, then depart for an early morning game drive before the temperatures begin to rise.
    • Search for the big cats and many herbivores which include giraffes, buffaloes and zebras, among others.
    • Return to the lodge for breakfast. Enjoy midday at your own leisure as you explore the lodge facilities.
    • After lunch, go on an afternoon game drive. Before sunset, return to the lodge for dinner.
  • Day 6: Tsavo East National Park - Mombasa expand_more
    • After an early breakfast and check out, you will proceed to Mombasa with a game drive en-route to Bachuma Gate.
    • You will arrive at Sarova Whitesands Beach Hotel & Spa in time for lunch and check-in. Your stay in Mombasa will be at leisure, to rest, and to enjoy the sandy beaches.

What to bring
  • Baggage: the ‘mantra’ is Travel Light!
  • Clients should be encouraged to carry soft-sided travel bags instead of hard or roller cases such as samsonite, etc.
  • This saves time during the loading and offloading of the safari vehicles.
  • Other Personal Items
  • Don’t forget the camera, camcorder and a plentiful supply of film and spare batteries.
  • A pair of binoculars will greatly enhance game viewing, while a torch to find your way around camp after dark is a good idea.
  • Books, pencils, crayons and crackers are very welcome as gifts to the children of local villages that you would pass (or visit) whilst on safari. We do not encourage candy as some do not have easy access to dentists.
  • Sunglasses and a hat for protection against the sun are recommended, and swimsuits should be packed for the swimming pool or beach.
Know before you go
  • Summer clothing is worn throughout the year, although a jacket and light raincoat may be necessary. Early morning and evening temperatures at altitude (most national parks are located 1000m plus asl) are cool. So we recommend a sweater to keep you warm, especially during your dawn and dusk safaris.
  • On safari, wear neutral colours, such as brown, beige and khaki - bright colours may alarm the animals. Sensible walking shoes are also recommended.
  • Since laundry is only possible where you are staying for two nights, try to carry the quick-dry type of clothing. (particular properties and only were mentioned in the itinerary)
  • Casual wear is the norm during the day, a short-sleeved shirt for men, light cotton dresses, or a skirt and top for women. In the evening, all hotels and restaurants require long trousers for men in particular.
  • Topless sunbathing is not permitted.
  • Tipping is not compulsory but is always enthusiastically received if you are happy with the service and would like to tip. There are no set percentages for tips. The local culture believes the level of tips should be at the client's discretion, and any token of appreciation is gladly received.
  • We recommend that you tip your guide directly at the end of your stay in camp; as a rough guideline, you might want to tip from US$5-10 per day.
  • Please note that there are variations between all the EA countries on tipping and gratuities. Whilst the actual amount of money to tip is left at your discretion.
