Meet your Chilean guide at 8 am at your hotel in Pucón for pick-up and transfer.

Drive through the lovely countryside towards Caburgua.

Make a short stop to get a view of Caburgua Lake.

After 45 minutes, reach Lake Tinquilco and park entrance with the ranger station. A dirt road continues for about 15 minutes, and finally, you get to the trailhead.

You will pass some lookouts with great views to Tinquilco Lake and Villarrica volcano on your walk uphill. The hike is mostly inside the lush “Valdivian Rain Forest”, where you will see different species of native trees like arrayán, tepa, coigüe, and mañío, among many others.

After about 2 hours of hiking, you will get to the first of the mountain lakes, Lago Chico, with many araucaria trees on its shore. A bit further, you will meet Lago Toro and, after another 10 minutes uphill, Lago Verde. There are several beautiful spots for a relaxing lunch break beside the lakes.

For most excursions, these 3 lakes are visited. With tough hikers, it is possible to make an extension and the tinier ponds Los Patos and Huerquehue (about 2 extra hours).

After lunch, start your way back to the car. If there is still enough time and energy left, you can make a short side trip to visit the waterfalls Trufulco and/or Nido de Águila.

Ride back to Pucón, which leads through the Liucura valley with other great views of the Villarrica volcano.
