“…Yet our lessons come from the journey, not the destination.”

Despite or because of its ubiquity love is a feeling that cannot be easily defined. Why is love so tied to knowledge? We strive to place it in a two dimensional world but we cannot do this because the love is essentially profound.  You cannot truly love someone or something if you do not know them and this could last a lifetime. I had the wonderful privilege of being born in the town I love. I spent my entire life discovering it. My town quickly charmed me with his magic tricks. My childhood days were filled with its magic or so it seemed. I was constantly absorbing it and learning about it. I haven’t ever been able to leave my town. Now, after quite a long time, we are finally one. Is there another place in the entire world where I could get the same feelings? I really don’t want to miss this connection.

How is it to go through my town during the day? Every part of the city looks like a construction site at the moment, causing traffic chaos for residents, commuters and tourists.  How is it to go through my town during the night? Nights in the Old City are a little bit too dark but the streets do feel safe. The construction site seems to have disappeared but it is always there, in the back of our minds.

However, the tourists are still coming to Constanta but at slower pace. Those who dare to come are in complete awe of new experiences and feelings that come about with no effort on their part. They are interested to know us, to roam our streets, to feel our history. They move around so easy because they won’t remain for long on our lands. For them the time here is only a time to gather golden moments, to see the old and once beautiful building of the Casino, to sniff the Ovid’s Square from the minaret of King’s Mosque, to have a black coffee on the Black Sea Coast and to imagine what these tourist attractions were like in ancient times.
