So many clients asking for transfers rather than a driver for the whole tour. It is understood that clients are staying considerable days in one place. But, there thousands of reason you should hire a good driver plus a guide on your tour. Here are some of them:
Cost - Clients may think it will be less expensive for transfers but it's not true every time. If you calculate the transfer cost, it may higher than a driver package for the whole tour.
Safety - It's always safe to have a good driver with you and if lost or incident happened during the transfers, you can't claim anybody and you don't need to check passenger insurance every time.
Traffic - Here in Sri Lanka, traffic is getting worst day by day and self-driving will be worst.
No need to bargain every time - Here, bargaining will work but bargaining every time with different drivers will make you fed up.

Flexible with timings - With a private driver, you can always plan your next day rather waiting for the driver to the next stop.
You can stop for photo or activity - With transfers, definitely, you can't expect this and you have to pay for it.
It's true that service providers expecting the tip for service end of the day but it's not a good thing to avoid with a private driver. You can check tipping guidelines on TripAdvisor or more for a reasonable tip, ask a friend.
