Best Time to Visit:

Choosing the best time to visit Bhutan really depends on the answer to one question: how important is it for you to see one of the festivals? For most travellers, festival season (Feb-July & Aug-Dec) is the most popular time to visit the country. You will see lots of activity, celebrations, and unique culture only found in Bhutan. However, the downside is that it can be crowded during this time with tourists from all over the world. It really comes down to personal preference. I for one like the feeling in Bhutan when there are few tourists around and you get the sensation that you have taken a step back in time. For me, that is part of what makes Bhutan so amazing. That being said, the festivals are a culture wonder of the world and you will remember them for the rest of your life. It is really just up to you.

Getting to Bhutan:

There are only two airlines that fly to Bhutan's single international airport located in Paro. The airlines are Drukair and Bhutan Airlines and they are very good airlines. The only unfortunate thing is that they fly to a select number of destinations and do not have the same flights on each day of the week. Therefore, we must plan ahead to ensure that you have a seat reserved and your connecting flights arranged as soon as possible.

Pricing:

The Government of Bhutan requires all travel agencies to charge a minimum tariff of $250 USD/person/day. This tariff will include hotels, food, ground transportation, guide fees, admission to all sites, and all non-alcoholic beverages. Air tickets, alcoholic beverages, travel insurance, visas, and souvenirs are not included. For the $250/person/day tariff, your package will include at a minimum 3* and 4* hotels. If you would like to stay in 5* hotels, the fee will be adjusted according to the specific hotels you choose.

You are welcome to book your own connecting flights but it is best if we book your Bhutan Airlines or Drukair flight as we have partnerships with Bhutan Airlines and Drukair and can keep seats on the long-term block while your visa application is finalized. Most travellers find it easiest for us to book all of your flights as one package, so please let me know your preference and we will provide a quotation accordingly.
