Special Trekking Permit in Nepal

If you are hearing for the first time about Nepal's special trekking permit, you might not be aware of it. But don't worry; we at "Great Panorama Treks and Expedition" are here to provide information about the trekking permit for tourists who travel and trek to special restricted areas. A trekking permit is essential to travel to the controlled areas mentioned below.

What is a Restricted Trekking Permit?

Government regulations in Nepal mandate that some trekking regions have a special permit, especially if the trekking area borders another country or has a connection with another country. Certain mountain areas in Nepal are designated as restricted areas, not only for border security reasons but also to ensure the quality of visitors and to protect archaeological sites. Examples include:

Manasalu Trekking, Mustang Trekking, Dolpa Trekking, Tamang Heritage Trekking, Kanchenjunga Trekking, and Everest Trekking Nangpala.

However, a Special Trekking Permit is issued only to groups and by government-registered authorized trekking companies. Individual trekkers will not be issued this special trekking permit. For this type of Special Trekking Permit, at least two people are required to obtain the permit, and it is available only at the Nepal Immigration Office in Kaliksthan, Kathmandu, on regular working days.
