Welcome to Serengeti

Serengeti National Park, an 'endless plains', is undoubtedly one of the world's most celebrated wilderness areas and is an ongoing source of inspiration to writers, filmmakers and photographers.

It is Tanzania's oldest national park, and renowned as the site of the annual Great Migration, when over two million animals - mostly wildebeests - migrate to Kenya's Maasai Mara National Reserve. This epic, seasonal journey is a deeply moving experience and a wonderful photographic subject.

Visitors to the park can roam its sprawling plains on exhilarating game drives, safari walks or hop into a hot-air balloon for a once-in-a-lifetime wilderness adventure.

Why we love it:

  • Marvel at the big five that consists of buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard and black rhino which can be found throughout the park

  • Discover uniques species such as topi, grants, and Thomson gazelles

  • Marvel at the large lion prides, be introduced to the topi migration in the Western corridor, witness wildebeest- calving and enjoy cheetah sightings in the southern Serengeti.

  • Cast your eye to the sky for endemic bird species, such a superb starling

  • Fall in love with the diversity of landscapes that makes this one of Africa's most prized safari destination.

  • Soar over the Serengeti in a hot air balloon-a truly not-to-be-missed adventure.

  • Enjoy the opportunity to meet the people from and gain insight into new cultures

  • Discover the great Migration; an estimated 1.5 million wildebeests, 400000 zebras and 200000 gazelles.

  • Calving happen January-March, in the south of the park

  • Witness a spectacular river crossing from July -October in the western corridor across the Grumeti River and the north border with the Maasai Mara

  • Take the time to visit Olduvai Gorge and the shifting sands named the Cradle of Mankind, to see the place where Mary Leakey discovered the first hominid skull thought to be over 1.8million years

  • Kopjes (Rocks): The Serengeti would not be the same without the beautiful rock outcrops known as Kopjes technically known as Inselbergs.

  • Early Maasai rock paintings still visible at Moru and a special rock used for making different sounds (Gong!Gong!)

  • By the end of your safari, you will be having a broader experience of the exciting array of wildlife, culture and experiences that can be found in an area through the discovery of the most fascinating animals and plants on your enchanting journey through Tanzania's prized safari destination.
