The Shwedagon Pagoda , one of the wonders of the world, is a prominent landmark of Myanmar.   Also known as the Great Dagon Pagoda and the Golden Pagoda, this stupa is located in Yangon city atop the Singuttara Hill and completely dominates the Yangon skyline.

The Pagoda has a height of 326 feet. The stupa's plinth is made of bricks covered with gold plates. Above the base are terraces that only monks and other males can access.

This is the Pagoda where the four Buddha's relics are enshrined . It is believed that this Pagoda was built more than 2600 years ago, that is, during the Buddha's lifetime.  Therefore, this Pagoda is one of the holiest place of worship for Buddhists all over the world and the whole complex is practically a work of art.
