In Myanmar, there are 7 states and 7 divisions. Shan State which is the biggest state in Myanmar and it is located on the Shan Plateau over 3000 ft above sea level. The bordering countries are China to the north, Laos and Thailand are to the East and Bay of Bengal to the South and central of  Myanmar to the west. The Shan State is divided into three parts such as Northern, Southern and Eastern Shan state. Taunggyi is the capital of Shan State. There are 5 million people inhabited in Shan State. There are at least 33 tribal groups in Shan State who speak their own dialect and have their own cultural, customs and costumes but anyhow all of those tribal are harmony because of the faith of  Buddhism. They use to celebrate their festival every month. Among them, Tazaungdine festival and Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival are the most popular celebration in Shan State. Tazaungdine Fire Balloon (hot air balloon) Festival is celebrated in November. There are round about 10 days in Taunggyi (the capital of Shan State and 30 km far from Inle). Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival is celebrated in October. There are round about 18 days in Inle lake. At that time, most of the world visitors are enjoy looking at the spectacular water-bound procession on the lake. In Southern Shan State, the tour trips for the tourist are famous natural Inle Lake, Kalaw Hill Resort, Pindaya Natural Cave, and Kakku Pagoda. 


Inle Lake: Inle Lake is the beautiful landmark of the Shan State. It is the second-largest natural lake in Myanmar. It is 22 km north to south and 11 km east to west. The people in that area are Inntha, Shan and Phao. You can study these people and their ways of life on the lake. You will see their unique fishing method and unique growing method around on the lake. Another interesting scene in the lake is the leg- rowers who row their boat with their legs. 


The trips for the tourist are:

Day1

  • Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda

  • Weaving village and factory

  • Blacksmith village and workshop

  • Boat building in Paukpar Village

  • Cheroot making factory 

  • You can walk around in the Village about 1/2 hour, study their way of life.

  • You can study in their floating gardens area.

  • You can have look and take pictures in the fisherman village.

Day-2

  • Shwe Inn Dain Pagoda, located in the western part of the lake. It takes about 1/2 hour from Yawma village.

  • Gold and Silversmith village

  • Yawma Village

  • Acient Monastery built of teak over 150 years ago. (Ngaphechaung Village)

  • You can study people their way of life in Myaniknong village for about 1/2 hour.

  • You can take pictures around the lake.

Day-3

  • Sankar trip, located southern part of Inle lake. It takes about 2 hour drive by boat.

  • You can visit the ancient city.


Kalaw: Kalaw which is a favourite hill resort for British Officers and their family during the hot seasons. It is about 1320 m high on the western rim of the massive Shan plateau. Kalaw is a starting point for Trekking to Inle and Pindaya.


Pindaya: Pindaya is noted for its extensive limestone cave, set deep in the hillside, where you will see over 8000 of Buddha images in the cave. It is 1183 m above sea level. The people in that area are Danu, Taungyoo and Phao. The main business is farming. The main products are tea leaf, potato, ginger, cabbages, oranges and so on. You can study how they make their Shan papers and umbrellas in the factory.

 

Kakku: Kakku is the latest tourist attraction. It is popular with a cluster of ruin pagodas over 2400 stupas since the 18th century. It is a 1/2 hour drive from Taunggyi.
