The perfect time to go to the beach

Summer is here and the sun is shining just perfectly; it is the perfect time to go the beach. Romania is one of those fortunate countries that benefits from the presence of a sea, namely the Black Sea, whose shores are situated less than 2 and a half hours drive from its capital city, Bucharest. By private car, you can reach the relaxing Black Sea resorts by driving on the A2 highway, a road that links these two major cities: Bucharest and Constanta.

The maritime port of Constanta has been founded in Antiquity, as early as the 6th century AD when Greek fishermen settled here and helped it flourish into the greatest harbor on the Black Sea under the name of Tomis. Having been inhabited by various populations throughout the centuries, from Romans to Bulgarians to Genovese to Tatars, Constanta is rich in terms of history and culture with a cosmopolitan past that is revealed through its sights: ruins of citadels, temple columns, ancient statues, mosques and stone basilicas that are spread around the old part of town. Further down toward the waterfront, you will find the symbol of Constanta: the eclectic building of the Casino, where the most glamorous parties used to take place decades ago.

Following this “journey” into the past, for a sense of summertime fun you can travel a few kilometers north to the neighboring resort of Mamaia, which becomes the main entertainment spot in Romania between the months of June – August. If you are spending only an afternoon here, you can relax on one of the many deck chairs lined on the fine sandy beach and go for a swim in the warm Black Sea water. In case you decide to spend the night here and plan on going out, the many exquisite clubs will welcome you to party until the early hours.

Regardless how long you plan on staying on the Black Sea shore, there is a lot of fun! Take a private tour now!
