The rail ride from Kandy to Ella is known as one of the most scenic train trips in the world. This memorable journey commences from Kandy, the last royal capital of the country, to Ella, a peaceful, scenic village in the central highlands of Sri Lanka.
With the chug-chug of the train leaving Kandy, the rail-road fantasy begins. The train ride that gradually ascends 2024m going past dense forest, verdant tea plantations, cascading waterfalls, tunnels carved out of a rock, gigantic mountain ranges, deep ravines and picturesque valleys. The highlight of the journey is the Nine Arch Demodara Bridge and the fascinating 441 feet long Demodara Loop where the railway track passes under itself and emerges from the tunnel; an impressive feat in railway construction. This six-hour journey will certainly be filled with exclamations of WOW! Awesome! Unbelievable! And Out-of-this-world!!; in addition to being a memorable photography session.
