Driving north of Addis some 100 KM, you will reach one of the most spectacular views of the Blue Nile gorge. There is also a bridge believed to be built by Portuguese in the 16th century. Drive on the right side about 4 KM, you can also visit the biggest monastery in Ethiopia, Debre Libanos. An Ethiopian Saint called Teklehaymanot founded this monastery in the 13th century. A number of times the old churches had been destroyed and the present church at the monastery was built by Emperor Haile Sellasie. The church is a modern church and has beautiful stain glasses dpicting the history from Old Testiment and New Testiment.

 On the way down to the monastery, you will also able to see the endemic Chelada Baboon.
