Arugam Bay is a surfing destination which lies to the south of Pothuvil in the Ampara District. It is located 314 kilometers away from Colombo, Sri Lanka. The world-famous tourist attraction is a sandy beach perfectly suitable for surfing and swimming. Since the waves are favorable throughout the year, Arugam Bay is frequented by foreigners as well as locals. As the only international surf competition venue in Sri Lanka, it also hosted the So Sri Lanka Pro 2019.
