Can US citizens travel to Iran?
US, UK and Canadian citizens need to book a guided tour to travel to Iran, it means that you as passport holder to one of these nationalities cannot travel to Iran as a solo traveler. Also, these three nationalities are not able to obtain a visa on their arrival to Iran’s international airport. But don’t you worry at all, it is our job to apply for your visa application to MFA!

Step by Step guide for US and Canadian citizens:
Book your tour at least 60 to 90 days ahead of your desired departure.

After receiving and controlling your documents, we’ll prepare our own documents such as your hotel reservations, your itinerary and your tour guide name and IDs and we’ll provide it to MFA together with your documents to start your visa application.
Your visa grant notice gets ready between 45 to 60 days after we start your visa application.
We’ll send your visa approval immediately after we receive it from MFA as PDF file (visa grant notice).
You’ll have 30 days from the date that your approval issued to obtain your visa stamp from interest section of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Washington. So you need to print your visa grant notice in color and provide it to the interest section together with your passport and visa stamp fee either in person or by postal service. Visa application steps are pretty much the same as US and Canadian citizens but the only difference is there is no need for your professional resume and instead you might be asking to have an interview in the Iranian embassy in London. Case of the interview in completely depends on the officers whose review your case, so if they feel that they need more explanation from you about the reasons of your trip to Iran they might ask you to have an interview in the Iranian embassy in London.
