Travel Agents' Association of Sikkim (TAAS) Congratulates Spice jet for launch of Kathmandu-Bagdogra-Kolkat flight.

SpiceJet, India’s second largest low fare airline, has announced the launch of Kathmandu-Bagdogra-Kolkata service starting from Wednesday.
According to a statement issued by the airline, new flight offers direct service between Kathmandu and Bagdogra, and convenient connection from Kathmandu to Kolkata via Bagdogra.

This flight will operate three times a week — on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. “This is our first international flight from the state of West Bengal to Kathmandu. We believe this flight will not only facilitate tourism, but also be important for the growth of trade between the two neighbouring nations,” Kaneswaran Avili, chief commercial officer of SpiceJet Ltd, said.
With the introduction of this flight, SpiceJet will become first Indian airline to operate international flights between Kathmandu and Bagdogra. This new service will help the people in Kathmandu have comfortable connectivity with Bagdogra and Kolkata.

Bagdogra is in a popular tourism region of India, and is also the base airport for Darjeeling, which is located around 65 km away from the Bagdogra airport. “The new operation will certainly help boost trade and tourism ties between the two countries,” Joy Dewan, managing director of Zenith Travels, also the general sales agent for Nepal said. He hoped that it would be a great opportunity for Nepal to benefit from the untapped trade and tourism market in West Bengal and surrounding regions.

The airline is also offering an introductory promotional fare starting from Rs 199 plus statutory taxes and fees for Kathmandu-Bagdogra. Also, fares from Kathmandu to Kolkata via Bagdogra start at Rs 5,078 plus statutory taxes and fees. This offer from Kathmandu will be valid on first 1,000 seats sold on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis.
This new three times weekly Kathmandu flight is in addition to the 11 weekly direct flights SpiceJet operates on the Kathmandu-Delhi route. SpiceJet will be deploying Boeing 737NG aircraft on both these routes.

The airline currently operates more than 340 daily flights to 48 destinations.
SpiceJet connects its network using next generation fleet of 37 Boeing 737-800/900ER aircraft, along with 15 Bombardier Q-400 aircraft that are focused on Tier II and Tier III cities.

With confidence gained from being one of the top airlines in India in terms of on-time performance, SpiceJet recently launched its ‘On Time Guarantee’ programme that assures passengers that if a flight is delayed for any reason that are within its control, then flyers will be automatically compensated with discount vouchers for the next travel.
