Shaki City located 295 km from Baku at the north-west part of Azerbaijan. It is really difficult to go from Baku to Shaki and back within one day, so we sincerely suggest you to take two-days tours to visit Shaki.

There are traces of large-scale settlements in Shaki dating back to more than 2700 years ago. The city of Shaki was one of the areas occupied by the Sakas. The original settlement dates back to the late Bronze Age.

Shaki was one of the biggest cities of the Albanian states in the 1st century. The main temple of the ancient Albanians was located there. The kingdom of Shaki was divided into 11 administrative provinces. Shaki was one of the important political and economic cities before the Arab invasion. But as a result of the invasion, Shaki was annexed to the third emirate.

The palace is considered as one of the most beautiful architectural monuments of medieval Azerbaijan. Here you can also buy souvenirs, and try national costumes.

Another must-see place in Sheki is the local Old Fortress. There are 11 historical bathhouses here, and one of them built in 19th century, is still in operation. Most of the historical monuments from different periods are located in this part of the town, including the 5th century Albanian temple.
