Sarnath is known as the birthplace of Buddhism because Lord Buddha had preached his first sermon to his five disciples after enlightenment here. In memories of lord Buddha's first preaching at Sarnath, Emperor Ashoka had erected a stupa in 3rd century BCE which is the most religious for Buddhist followers where you can see many Buddhists pray for world peace. It is an archaeological site where you can see ruins of temples, different kinds of stupas, monasteries.  There is a museum at Sarnath where you can see our Indian emblem of four lions set back to back on  Askoan pillar which is the finest piece in the history of Indian art erected by emperor Ashoka in 3rd century BCE.

I am a government approved tourist guide I have good knowledge about Indian history, art and architecture. I have had many foreign and Indian tourists who have visited Varanasi with me and they were fully satisfied with my guiding.
