Salmon fishing forecast for 2014 in Ucluelet BC. Looks like it’s going to be a great year!Forecasts are for huge numbers of Chinook salmon to pass through our area returning to the Columbia River. Also the Stamp river forecast looks above normal which will also  increase our local fishery, calling for some 5 year old fish mixed in this year. Those are the real big guys’ 30 – 50 pounders. All these fish come down the coastal fish highway and hang around to feed around Ucluelet. Also hearing they are expecting up to 75 million sockeye return to pass through this year, so we might even see a sockeye opening on the west coast. Coho reports are outstanding as well like they have been in the last few years. Already reports of lots of herring in the area which will help hold the fish around here.  Halibut should be as good as ever and this year we will be out chasing Albacore Tuna, they like the warm summer water so it will be especially good when El Nino pays a visit – the action can be fast and furious. Good time to come over to fish and put some fish in your freezer.  75% booked for trips from June 18 till the end of August. Looks like it’s going to be a great fishy summer. Loads of fish!
