Lviv...how many shades of feelings and emotions are hidden in this name!

Lviv is really a very picturesque and bright city. Whenever you come here, you'll always find something special and interesting to see and to visit. Personally I've been to Lviv uncountable amount of times, and still I can't stop admiring this little, but very beautiful and proud city.

There are many aspects of Lviv – historical, architectural, cultural...actually, it's quite difficult to see all sides and beauties of the city in one day or during one visit. Lviv hospitably opens its heart to every visitor making you return here again and again: in winter on the holiday of chocolate, in spring on its folk festivals, in summer – on jazz fest, in autumn – on the city holiday of coffee. You will never get bored here! You can enjoy a cup of good coffee with cinnamon sitting at the terrace of a retro cafe, walk along narrow streets or make a deep breathe staying at the Liberty Avenue and admiring Opera House. You can visit old books' market near the monument to Ivan Fedorov, look into the churches and cathedrals with its splendid architecture or you can set on a trip to Lviv's castles... there are many ways to open Lviv to yourself. This time I want to show you a romantic side of Lviv – romantic places must-visit!

romantic Lviv

1) Italian yard, sq.Rynok, 6

This creation of the Italian master situated near the Town Hall has long concealed love of the Polish king Jan Sobieski and Frenchwoman Marie Kazmiry. It is said that going here and bated breath, you can hear the whisper of lovers . And here you can also enjoy the best Viennese coffee with cream in Ukraine!

2) Opera Theatre

It's so nice to spend evening listening to the Opera (for example passionate "Carmen") or watching beautiful ballet perfomance. I've been to Lviv Opera 3 times and I can say that it's really worth of visiting!:) At daytime, before the perfomances, you can take an excursion to the Opera and learn more about its history.

3) Dominican Cathedral, Museum sq., 1

Maybe, it's the most beautiful cathedral of the city. There is so much refinement, luxury in it! Built in the Baroque style, it attracts lovers. It is especially beautiful at night when illumination is so pleasant for walking around it with someone you love and enjoy this abundance of colors. Visit it, along with someone special for you, someone you love, and you will feel the breath of centuries and get a lot of vivid memories.

4) The High Castle

This mysterious place to present day retains military valor and witches' powers. Time passed, the military fortress gone, but the land of Bald Mountain stores in itself a breathe of antiquity. Come to the mountain in the evening, and you'll get a mysterious evening panorama of Lviv, shrouded in romantic lights!

5) Bench for Lovers, sq.Rynok

The bench is quite young. It was created by 10 artists of the "Society of the Iron Lion." Along with the bench the legend was born - if a couple in love will take up arms and sit on the bench at the same time, their love will be happy and long. The bench is hold by two lions who guard the lovers. Usually the bench is always occupied - the lovers are looking for their happiness:)

6) City Hall

7) Church o St.Elizabeth

The elegant neo-Gothic Church of St.Elizabeth that pierces the sky with sharp spires is the first to greet Lviv guests arriving at the train station. It is one ofthe Lviv most admirable and fascinating monuments and is rightly considered city's trademark for over a century.

The Catholic Church was built in the early 20th century and named in honor of the wife of Austrian Emperor Franz Josef I - people's favorite Empress Elizabeth, who was killed by an Italian anarchist. It is believed that the architect intended the temple's high towers to hide the standing nearby Greek-Catholic Church of St. George, if looking at it from the side of the central railway station. And it must be admitted that he managed to implement this idea.

You can go upstairs (the tower of the church is opened for visitors daily) and enjoy beautiful view of the city.
