Rishikesh has now become a religious destination as well as an adventure sports destination,  where river rafting is very popular, for which people come here in large numbers. Rishikesh is quite famous for yoga, but most of the tourists coming here prefer rafting. People start moving to Rishikesh when their children leave school. Most people come during the summer season; there is also a traffic problem here in the months of May and June, due to which people have to travel a lot. And now Rishikesh has become more famous as a religious place, work and adventure place.
As soon as people hear the name of Rishikesh, one name definitely comes to their mind - river rafting.
River rafting is done from various places in Rishikesh. People mostly book rafting from three places in Rishikesh

  • Muni ki reti

  • Kharasrot

  • Tapovan

All these three areas are situated near Rishikesh city. From there, you can book river rafting, and you can book it both online and offline.

How to book river rafting:-

You can book rafting in Rishikesh both online and offline. Both online and offline booking have their advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages and disadvantages of online booking:-
If you book rafting online, then you will remain secure about your raft, and if you increase your wait, the rate will also go down, due to which you will get the boat at a cheaper rate or sometimes due to less wait, the rate will also go down.

Advantages and disadvantages of offline booking:-
If you do on-the-spot offline booking, then you can do it. If there is less time, then you may get rafting at a lower price, or it may also be that the rate gets worse due to bad traffic.

Rate, Distance & Rapid, time and point name of rafting:- This rate is according to Ganga Nadi Rafting Rotation Samiti. 

Koudiyala to Ram Jhula/Nim Beach- 35 km (13 rapids)- 2500 pp (4 hours)

Koudiyala to Shivpuri- 20 km- 1500 pp (2-3 hours)

Marine Drive to Shivpuri- 10 km- 600 pp (1-2 hours)

Marine Drive to Ram jhula - 25 km- 1500 pp (3-4 hours) (10 rapids)

Shivpuri to Ram jhula/Nim Beach- 15 km- 1000 pp (7 rapids) (2-3 hours)

Brahmpuri to Ram jhula/Nim Beach- 9 km- 600 pp (4 rapids) (1-2 hours)

Clubhouse to Ram jhula/Nim Beach- 9 km- 600 pp (4 rapids) (1-2 hours)

Transport included, with raft transporting vehicle only.

Precaution & Allowance in rafting:-

  • Age between 14-60 years

  • Rafting people are prohibited from carrying sharp objects in the boat.

  • Follow a Rafting guide or instructor.

  • Be sure to check the license of the rafting guide so that you remain safe.

  • The person doing the rafting should not be too heavy or too light so that the life jacket can be tied easily.

  • While going rafting, check your jacket and helmet properly so that there is no risk of drowning.

  • The person doing rafting should not have any medical problems like B.P., back problems, bone problems, Asthma, Surgery, or Pregnancy.

  • When you are rafting, do not take the risk of taking photos and videos with your phone or camera; this can distract your attention and put you in danger.

  • When you are going rafting, you should not consume any intoxicating substance like wine.

  • Ladies are not allowed to wear a saree; if they have a swimsuit or normal suit, then they can wear it.

  • Treat the people who are going rafting with you properly and support them, too.

While doing river rafting, many people take videos or photographs, and in such a situation, many people try to take videos or photos from their phone or camera, which can be very dangerous; your attention can get distracted from the photos, and you can fall from the boat into the water.
In this way, you can get videos and photos made from Go Pro with the help of a guide, for which they take charge, which you can get made by talking to them.

Generally, they charge Rs. (2000-2500 for a boat), but you can bargain if you want because it is included in his extra income, which has no effect on the rafting owner.
When you go rafting, depending on the rate of video or photos, it may spoil your enjoyment in the end because you will not get the video or photo at the correct rate.

When does Rafting open:-
River rafting in Rishikesh remains open from 15 October to 30 June because, after this, the monsoon starts, and the water level of the Ganga increases.
