Tbilisi - one of the most ancient cities in the world, located at the crossroads between Europe and Middle East, is a unforgettable travel experience. 

Also known as the "Pearl of Caucasus", the Georgian capital is full of historic sights, scenic view platforms, beautiful architecture and countless hidden gems. 

So what are the must do´s in Tbilisi?


  1. Mtatsminda mountain - the Holy mountain overlooks the whole city and its´ TV tower is visible even from the airplane. Take a ride with the funicular to the top of the mountain to enjoy the bird view of the city and relax in the Mtatsminda park

  2. Try khachapuri from a local bakery - Khachapuri, the cheese pies of different forms and sizes, are one of the most typical Georgian foods. The form depends on the region of origin of a particular pie. The less fancy, simple bakeries have usually the best khachapuris.

  3. Ethnographic museum - one of the best museums in Georgia, the open air Ethnographic museum is located on a green hill on the way to the Turtle lake. The museum consists of a large territory with original traditional houses from different regions of Georgia. You can enter the houses and discover how the families were living and what the old household items were used for

  4. Enjoy the sunset from Narikala fort - the oldest fort of Tbilisi offers a wonderful view over the evening town with the old rooftops shimmering in the sun rays. Easiest way to reach is by cable cars from Rike park

  5. Walk on the Peace bridge at night - the futuristic glass bridge in the center of Tbilisi is an impressive architectural creation, beautiful both during the day and night time. Don´t miss the magnificent game of lights on the bridge at night - thousands of small LED lamps create a beautiful dynamic light show.

  6. Visit the Sameba cathedra - the highest church in Georgia. The symmetrical architecture and large dimensions offer a perfect motive for a photo shoot. And if you get hungry, there is a great bakery with traditional lemonades - sodas at the entrance gate of Sameba

  7. Shop the antique and flea market at the Dry bridge. Here you can find all sorts of old things - from older books over ancient gramophones to professional paintings or modern day artist. Be ready to bargain about 10-20% of the original price

  8. Enjoy a dinner or lunch or even just a drink in one of the small streets with pedestrian only zone like New Tiflis or Erekle II. Both places are full with countless cafés and restaurants with cozy outside seating area and cute little lamps at night.

  9. Try Georgian wine - when visiting the original country of wine, you should not miss the opportunity to try the unique wine sorts, that Georgia has created. You can find amazing red and white wines as well as the very special and limited amber wines - full body wine which is made in a qvevri vessel with skin contact maceration.

  10. Shop for traditional souvenirs instead of magnets and key chains, such as enamel jewelry, folklore hats from different regions, drinking horns, blue and white table cloths, fig and walnut jams, churchkhela energy bars or the cozy hand knitted socks with traditional patterns.
