The Mursi (or Mun) are a Nilotic pastoralist ethnic group based in Ethiopia. They basically  reside in the Debub Omo Zone of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People's Region, closer to the border with South Sudan. According to the 2007 national census, there were around 7,500 Mursi, 448 of whom who lived in the urban areas. But out of the total number, 92.25% lived in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People's Region.

Surrounded by mountains between the Omo River and it's tributary the Mago, the home of the Mursi is considered as one of the most isolated and remote regions in the country. Now, the main neighbors of the Mursi tribe group are the Aari,  Banna, Bodi,  Karo, Kwegu, Nyangatom and the Suri ethnic group. They have been grouped together with the Me'en and Suri by the Ethiopian government under the name Surma.

These people or group speak the Mursi language. Infact, two orthographies also exists for the Mursi language. One is the Amharic-based and the second is Latin-based.
