Mandalay, the second-largest city in Myanmar, was established in 1857 by King Mindon. It is found in the upper part of the country and located in the East Bank of the Irrawaddy River. "Mandalay", the city name was given by the 236-meter high Mandalay Hill. Mandalay is famous for the tourist attraction places such as Mandalay Royal Palace, Mahamuni Pagoda, Kuthodaw Pagoda, Mandalay Hill. Moreover, numerous temples and monasteries reflect the cultural and religious of Myanmar. Another tourist attraction places are industries such as tea packing, silk weaving, jade cutting, brass and copper casting, wood carving and gold-leaf workshop. Besides Mandalay, Inwa, Amarapura, Sagaing and Mingun are also the ancient neighbouring cities and there also have numerous famous, sacred, and priceless pagodas, ancient monasteries, and other interesting sightseeing places.
